#EVENTS

What’s with the crowds on Wednesday?

We feel you should know: April 10th marks the 3rd anniversary of the tragic plane crash, in which Polish president Lech Kaczyński, his wife and 95 other people from the presidential delegation all lost their lives. The president’s twin brother Jarosław and Law&Justice (Prawo i Sprawiedliwość), the party he chairs, are planning a number of events on Krakowskie Przedmieście, esp. around the Presidential Palace. An estimated 10000 visitors will come to Warsaw to attend the celebrations. If you also wish to attend, head for the “Smolensk Triptych” concert at 3 PM in front of the Presidential Palace. Also, be prepared for a wake-up call: you will hear wailing sirens city-wide at 8:41 AM(which is when the plane crashed). To understand why the tragic anniversary celebrations are dominated by one political party and learn more about the complexity of the situation, read the article under the “Details” link.
