Try wuzetka!
Wuzetka or WZ-ka is the WZ cake. Ok, it’s still unclear, right?:) So let us tell you a story. It was back in late 1940s when one of the first big investments of communist times in Warsaw was completed: the W-Z Road connecting the East to the West of the city and running in a tunnel just under the Castle Sq. where we start our 11am free walking tour (W stands for ‘wschód’, the East, and Z is for ‘zachód’, the West). To celebrate the opening of the road a pastry maker prepared a special cake that looked like… a road! Layer of black, chocolate cake, layer of white whipped cream, a layer of chocolate cake with marmalade above and a topping of cream again: it is a bit like lanes of asphalt, isn’t it?:) Since then, the cake has become one of the city’s culinary trademarks. Try it before you leave!
