Wałęsa. Man of Hope.

Lech Wałęsa is THE icon of Eastern Europe’s struggle against communism. It was him, who in the 1980s founded the Solidarity trade union and led the nation to freedom, setting an example for other countries which were under Soviet domination to fight for independence. His daring quest was not only recognized in Poland (he was elected President in 1990) but also worldwide (he won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1983). Now, another Polish icon, Andrzej Wajda, an academy award film-maker decided to create a film about Wałęsa’s struggle for freedom and recreate those uncertain times when no one really believed that the iron curtain will disappear forever. Although the movie is in Polish, some theatres show it with English subtitles!!! It’s a true must see! To find out when you can see the film with subtitles look for «Wałęsa. Człowiek Nadziei (z angielskimi napisami)» in the program below.
