Great Orchestra for a good cause

The 22nd Grande Finale of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity (WOŚP) is definitely an event you will not be able to miss or ignore if you plan to be in Warsaw – or in fact anywhere in Poland – this Sunday. This non-governmental charity foundation is organizing fantastic concerts, surprising auctions (this year, you can buy a bus), event for both children and grownups (workshops, competitions, contests, parties) practically across the whole country – and all this in a friendly and loving atmosphere. Everyone wants to be involved – clubs will organize their own parties and events during which they will be collecting donations, even some hairdressers will work for free on that day donating all the money to the Orchestra. The Orchestra’s aim is collect money to buy medical equipment so much needed in Polish hospitals. And the orchestra is really successful – last year they collected almost 51 mln PLN!!! The amount of money the orchestra collects is growing with each year. How can you support them? They will find you – 120,000 (!!!) volunteers carrying boxes and badges with a big red heart – the logo of the orchestra – will swarm the streets. Every donor will receive a heart-shaped sticker so don’t be surprised to see most Poles proudly walking around with red stickers on their coats or jackets. A huge concert will be organized outside the Palace of Culture. You will have the opportunity to see Polish musicians performing live on a large stage. The concert starts at 2:00 and finishes around 10:00PM. Traditionally, at 8:00PM tons of fireworks will brighten up the sky – this is how the orchestra sends its “Light to Heaven”. Be a part of this exciting event!

The Museum tells the story of tragic events of August and September 1944 in a multimedia-based way. It’s an enthralling journey through the history of the struggle of the people of Warsaw for independence. One of the few museums in Warsaw open on Mondays!
