The weather turns cold, the food turns south

This weekend, they’re taking you on a trip to Morocco, offering hummus, baba ganoush, red lentil spread, vegetarian tajine, lamb koftas and grilled vegetables with coriander in their famous buffet lunch. Indulge! Just woke up? You have until 5 PM to make it for brunch.

#WALK

Still worth seeing a cemetery!

November 2nd is All Souls Day – shops reopen, but most Poles still visit at least one cemetery to pay tribute to those who passed on. Use this opportunity to visit one of the most beautiful cemeteries – Cmentarz Powązkowski, also known as Powązki. Special bus lines C70 and C80 will get you there from the city center, as well as the regular bus 180. Allot at least an hour for a stroll to admire the beautiful tombstones, many of which have sculptures carved by Polish masters from the 19th and 20th century. Just remember that it gets dark at 5 pm, but even so – the sight of the flower-filled cemetery lit by candle lights makes for a magical atmosphere.

The money-collectors you might meet at Powązki are Polish stage and film actors who urge visitors to chip in to help restore the oldest tombstones – drop in a few złoty if you can!

#PARTY

The Funeral Party bids farewell to the 20th century

Tonight, Katz’s Whiskerzz collective will play the best songs of the late 20th century in the cozy Art School basement interiors that are home to Eufemia, one of the coziest-homiest (i.e. like home) Warsaw club. If glamour and waiting in line to get in are more your style, head to communist-style Klubokawiarnia down the stairs at Czackiego 3/5 or any of the addresses at Mazowiecka street. If you choose Eufemia, be sure to try delicious Polish (perry) cider!
