Śledzik

’Śledzik’ stands for ‘herring’, which is a typical companion on two important occasions in Poland: Christmas and when you drink vodka, which in some cases goes together:) The word has also become a nickname for a traditional pre-Christmas party with colleagues or friends when you get a chance to wish them all the best in an informal atmosphere. See what ‘Śledzik’ is like yourself! This Saturday you can choose between two Śledzik parties: Dzik will host a contest for best herring dish followed by live music, Palace of Culture’s barStudio will be full with city activists drinking, discussing and dancing:)

Cool stuff for Christmas

The family of Jabłkowscy is famous in Warsaw for their very long traditions of trading goods. One of the biggest stores in the capital has recently come back to its pre-war owners. Its a big media store but the Jablkowski Brothers company decided to organise a Christmas market in the ground floor of the store. High quality food, including fresh apple juice (Polish specialty!), very imaginative snacks and cookies (red beetroot chutney from La Koguta made us just cry in happiness) and supercool Warsaw souvenirs from HelloWawa (pepper mill in the shape of Palace of Culture and Science!) are all there, just in the city centre. While  you’re there,  see the beautiful stained glass decoration at the staircase on the first floor.

Where: Bracia Jabłkowscy store, ul. Bracka 25

When: from 12 to 8 PM
