Window to the Other Side – Warsaw Ghetto in 3D photos
April 19, 1943 is the day when the first of Warsaw’s two uprisings during World War II broke out in the ghetto area. After a month of fighting and three years of existence, the Warsaw Ghetto was officially liquidated in May 1943, leaving an indelible mark on the city as well as those who were forced to live there. The Warsaw Fotoplastikon (stereoscope) gives you an opportunity to see 48 3D photographs from the time of ghetto’s existence prior to the uprising, allowing you to take a peek into both the ghetto’s “everyday life” – rickshaw drivers, street vendors – as well as the time of its destruction by Jurgen Stroop’s forces. The exhibition will be on for as long as the uprising lasted (April 19-May 10), so Tuesday is your last chance to see it. A powerful experience not to be missed.
