Best food in Warsaw

Zielony Niedźwiedź (“ The Green Bear”) is an upscale Polish restaurant tucked away in the Karol Beyer park just got voted Warsaw’s best restaurant of 2014. Trust us (and Gazeta Wyborcza, the newspaper that awarded them the title) and go for their daily special, which at 32 PLN gets you soup, main course and dessert. You can also pay 25PLN for lunch without dessert. And if you like what you eat, check out their deli, so you can get some goodies for back home!
To get there, you need to head downstairs from Al.Jerozolimskie to the left of Poniatowski bridge and voila – it seems like you’ve been transported to the countryside. Peaceful, green and pleasantly minimal in décor 

#DRINK

Mulled beer, anyone?

Varsovians have many ways of beating the winter cold – we put on layers of clothes, try not to go out if we don’t have to, eat soup (esp. Vietnamese pho), drink Wedel hot chocolate or… drink something stronger. And while the ice-cold vodka is one option, most go for beer to spend more time in the warmth of a bar. And in wintertime, beer is just better when it’s warm, and flavored with spices like cloves and cinammon as well as ginger syrup! The bar at Solec 44 specializes in homemade mulled-beer syrups, but you’ll be able to order this typically Polish winter drink anywhere. Make sure you ask for grzane piwo (gzha-neh pivo).
Where: most bars around Warsaw, esp. recommended: Solec 44, ul. Solec 44

How much: around 10 PLN
