Balkan beats in outer space

Kosmos kosmos literally means „outer space”, but the club is actually in the cellar – you must have already noticed nothing is as it seems like in Warsaw. Head there this Friday to sweat it out to the beats of Balkan Madness, a Warsaw institution!

#CAFE

Latest addition to Warsaw’s rich coffee culture

Mokotów is Warsaw’s most desired district by apartment seekers. Green (though not at this time of the year), full of pre-war modernist architecture and… cafes. The latest addition is simply called MOKO; its owners decided to keep their 1930s interior as they are and open up the doors to Varsovians. So, come for a grand opening coffee before making a decision to stay here for good!

Where: Moko cafe, ul. Malczewskiego 6

When: 9AM-7PM

How much: ca.10 PLN for a coffee

Go sauning!

It would be a shame if you made it south to Mokotów and did not take a dip in the city’s largest swimming pool located in Warszawianka aquapark! Forget about bathing caps and dreary chlorium, ozonized water of the 50 meter pool will make you feel like you’re on proper vacation! And if you are too cold to swim, Warsaw’s biggest sauna complex is just on the other side of the locker room. If you’re feeling adventurous, head for the ice room (-20 degrees Celsius) before entering a Finnish sauna (100 degrees Celsius)…

Where: Wodny Park Warszawianka, ul. Dominika Merliniego 4

When: 6:30 am-10PM

#FOOD

Truly Varsovian food and… music

The Butcher’s is Varsovians’ pet name for Pasja Smaku, a wonderful little bistro offering undisputedly the best meat in Warsaw. The owner, a butcher in the 3rd generation and head of the Butcher’s Guild of Warsaw, is doing his best to appease the hip tastes of young Varsovians – his bistro looks like a modern café and is open until 3AM on weekends and on Friday and Saturday nights, patrons get to enjoy live music played by Warsaw’s most famous folk street orchestra, Kapela z Chmielnej – for free, too! Have yourself some kiełbasa (sausage) or tatar (steak tartare) and be sure to try a zupa (soup). Definitely worth the trip – take bus 190 from the Castle Square (pl.Zamkowy), get off at PŁOCKA-SZPITAL and take a stroll through the communist neighborhood to find yourself in front of the restaurant. Your stomach (and ears) will thank you!
