Go skating!

Walking is not enough for you? With the mild winter we’re going through this year it’s not really sure if we mean roller-skating or ice-skating, is it?:) Well, as much as we’d like Warsaw to be at least 20 degrees, life’s not that easy for us and we definitely get more occasions to go ice-skating in winter time. If you’ve been to the Old Town Market Square already, you know there’s an ice-rink there, small and cosy. So, get some fresh air and go skating!

Longest birthday party ever!

When was Chopin born? You won’t find an answer to this question even in the museum devoted to him. His mother claimed it was the first day of March, while church registry states it was February 22nd. Because no one will ever know the truth, Warsaw throws its most famous male resident a week-long birthday party – between February 22nd and March 1st you will have the opportunity to attend a number of free Chopin concerts held daily in various locations around the city. This Wednesday, head to the former department store „Bracia Jabłkowscy” at Bracka 25 to see a special show (in English) organised by musicians Nico de Villiers, Jakob Fichert and Anastasia Belina Johnson. And in the evening, head to Skwer, a club just opposite from where Chopin left Warsaw for good in 1830, to hear young Polish musicians (Bednarska Superband from a local music school) and Daniel Johnson and Victor Gutierrez Martin present their take on the famous romantic era composer’s music
