Isaac Singer’s Warsaw
This Nobel Prize winner, born in Poland is a patron for the annual Jewish Culture Festival of Warsaw. He lived in the capital for several years and he portraited narrow streets of Jewish quarter in some of his works. The programme of the event includes workshops for the kids, performances, movies and concerts. On Wednesday listen to the concert titled ‘The songs of Gusans’. Paweł Szpura, a drummer, and Paweł Postaremczak, who plays the saxophone were inspired by the traditional Armenian art of folk storytellers and singers-the Gusans. This form is often improvised and combines elemnts from Semetic, Persian and Byzantic influences.
