#FOOD

Best ‘chłodnik’ in town is at the butcher’s!

Polish cuisine boasts an infinite number of soups, ranging from traditional sour-rye soup that works wonders on rough night maladies to summer soups that actually cool you down. The latter are known as chłodnik or cold soup and are a must when in summertime Poland! Most Polish cuisine restaurants serve them – we recommend Specjały Regionalne (Regional Specialties) at ul.Nowy Świat 44 or the restaurant Pasja Smaku (“Passion for Taste”) run by a third-generation butcher and head of the butchers’ guild of Warsaw! The latter is meat-lover’s haven, serving arguably the best and definitely the biggest steak tartare in Warsaw, delicious Polish sausages and the tastiest soups! If you’re looking for a restaurant off the beaten tourist path, catch bus 190 from the Castle Square (pl.Zamkowy), get off at PŁOCKA-SZPITAL and take a stroll through the communist neighborhood to find yourself in front of the restaurant. Your stomach will thank you!

#MUSEUM/PARK

Łazienki – a museum that’s actually a park

You should not miss one of Warsaw’s greatest attractions: Łazienki Royal Park and Residence. One of the biggest city parks in Europe hides a true pearl of Warsaw neo-classicism: Palace on the Island, a former bathing pavilion redesigned as a summer residence of the last of Polish kings.See the neoclassical summer palace of the last king of Poland, visit his theatre in the Old Orangery and don’t forget to bring bread for the coyfish and nuts for the (red) squirrels and the peacocks!
The entry to all historical buildings in the park is free of charge on Thursday!

Where: Łazienki Królewskie (Royal Baths)

Warsaw’s best alternative record label presents KiRk and Mikrokolektyw

This Thursday will see the beginning of Lado w mieście (as in “Lato w mieście”, or “summer in the city”) concert series, organized by the independent record label Lado ABC. Head to the Vistula riverbank by the Świętokrzyski bridge and look for the white barge, which is actually a club called BarKa. The bands to kick off the (free!) concert series are electro-acoustic KiRk and post-jazz duo Mikrokolektyw. This is the place to be this Thursday night!
