#WALK

It’s All Saints’ Day – act like a local!

November 1st is when all museums, shops and even most restaurants will be closed – it’s one day of the year when the dead become more important than the living. Poles return to their hometowns to pay tribute to those who passed on. Use this opportunity to visit one of the most beautiful cemeteries – Cmentarz Powązkowski, also known as Powązki. Special bus lines C70 and C80 will get you there from the city center, as well as the regular bus 180. Allot at least an hour for a stroll to admire the beautiful tombstones, many of which have sculptures carved by Polish masters from the 19th and 20th century. Just remember that it gets dark at 5 pm, but even so – the sight of the flower-filled cemetery lit by candle lights makes for a magical atmosphere. And, if you have the time, visit the Jewish cemetery next door!

#MUSEUM/PARK

Łazienki – a museum that is actually a park

You should not miss one of Warsaw’s greatest attractions: Łazienki Royal Park and Residence. One of the biggest city parks in Europe hides a true pearl of Warsaw neo-classicism: Palace on the Island, a former bathing pavilion redesigned as a summer residence of the last of Polish kings. See the neoclassical summer palace of the last king of Poland, visit his theatre in the Old Orangery and don’t forget to bring bread for the coyfish and nuts for the (red) squirrels and the peacocks!

Due to the holiday, you can only enjoy the park, the buildings will be closed.
