#ART

Body (in) art

From curator’s notes: “Corpus” is an exhibition of works relating to the body inspired by the booksCorpus (2002) and Corpus II. Writings on Sexuality (2013) by Jean-Luc Nancy, one of the most important contemporary French philosophers. His work extends well beyond the well-worn paradigms of philosophical thought: really these books can be read as philosophical poems on the theme of corporeality. Nancy underlines the role that the body plays in religion, especially in Christianity, where the body of God becomes a real element of the religion’s rites and faith. Holy bodies, our own bodies, divine and secular bodies, bodies suffering, but also those enjoying pleasure: in art we find many such representations in the spirit of Nancy’s philosophy.
The exhibition features some of the world’s most famous artists, but also many Poles, including Dominik Lejman, Zbigniew Libera, Marek Konieczny, Jacek Malinowski, Magdalena Moskwa, Adam Rzepecki and Alina Szapocznikow

#FOOD

A lunch in the park

Zielony Niedźwiedź (“ The Green Bear”) is an upscale Polish restaurant tucked away in the Karol Beyer park. It’s also one of the five restaurants nominated for the title “restaurant of the year” by Gazeta Wyborcza, the biggest daily newspaper. Trust us (and them) and go for their daily special, which at 32 PLN gets you soup, main course and dessert. You can also pay 25PLN for lunch without dessert. And if you like what you eat, check out their deli, so you can get some goodies for back home!
To get there, you need to head downstairs from Al.Jerozolimskie by the bridge and voila – it seems like you’ve been transported to the countryside. Peaceful, green and pleasantly minimal in décor 

Where: Zielony Niedźwiedź (“The Green Bear”), ul. Smolna 6

The entry to all historical buildings in the park is free of charge on Thursday!
