Anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising

This Tuesday Warsaw will be marking the 73rd anniversary of the outbreak of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. April 19th of 1943 is a special moment in the history of the Second World War - this was the first time ever that ghetto prisoners rose against the Nazis. After the uprising was brutally put down, the whole ghetto was levelled to the ground. The main ceremonies, with the participants of state officials from Poland and abroad, the Righteous among the Nations, and hundreds of citizens of Warsaw, will start at noon near the monument of the Ghetto Heroes. The entrance to the Museum of Polish Jews - Polin - will be free of charge on that day. Warsaw will be commemorating the anniversary with daffodils. You will see hundreds ofvolunteers in the streets of Warsaw, who will be handing out specially designed paper daffodils, explaining their meaning and encouraging people to attach the flowers to their clothes to show they remember about the Uprising.

EMIKA is a British-Czech producer, vocalist, DJ and composer in one. Although she was studying to become a classic music performer, she discovered the world of electronic music and she stayed there for good. When she was studying sound design at the university, every evening she'd spend hours listening to the sounds of the dubstep scene, which was just being born at that time in Bristol. Then she moved to Berlin - four years later she was ready to start a career on her own. She recorded two albums with Ninja Tune studio "DVA" and "Emika". You could hear her music during the Olympic Games in London, but also in the trailer to "Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol". Her latest album plus DJ set will be presented in Warsaw this week, in one of the most posh clubs in town - Miłość (Love).
