7 years of one of Warsaw’s most popular clubs

Plan B (an easy name to remember, innit?:) is 7! Located in the so called Hipster Sq. (even the Google Maps changed the actual Saviour Sq. name for a while), it remains one of the most popular hipster hangouts in town. Obviously no one is going to admit they’re hipster but you will see:) To celebrate the big occasion, the club throws a series of events and parties, including the Thursday Mikrokolektyw’s concert. Renowned Polish free- and experimental-jazz musicians, trumpeter Artur Majewski and drummer Kuba Suchar started the band in order to add electronic feel to their jazz. They’ve been acclaimed both in Europe and the US, now you can see them in Warsaw. Not to be missed! And right after the concert you can jump on the dancefloor. The afterparty will be hosted by popular HHM dj-duo.

Tymon & The Transistors

Tymon Tymański is a living legend. Not the kind of legend like Paul McCartney but if you think of Frank Zappa, well, we’re home! He ‘modernized’ Polish jazz promoting ‘yass’ a free-jazz inspired subgenre that let a lot of fresh air into the scene. The Transistors are his rock/song project so we hope we haven’t discouraged those who aren’t much into jazz yet:) They’re great at catchy melodies, incredibly skilled as musicians and have a mindblowing sense of humour so make sure you stand next to a Polish member of the audience to have the jokes and lyrics translated!;)

#EXHIBITION

The Spell of Warsaw

The exhibition takes its title from the name of a perfumery shop which functioned at the corner of Krucza and Żurawia Streets in Warsaw from the 1960s. It bore a stylish neon sign with the inscription and an image of bottle of perfume. In the 1980s, the sign was removed, and in the 1990s it was replaced by a ‘billboard girl’ typical for the era’s advertising. Today the windows of the now-defunct shop are covered with layers of street posters. The spell of Warsaw is gone. Paulina Ołowska studies the processes of urban transformation and social relationships in an era of growing consumerism. Her works often feature the female figure, narrating about the woman in liberal capitalism and as an object of consumption and advertising. The exhibition features works dating back to 2004. The artist focuses on works relating to her earlier projects and realisations, broadly inspired by Warsaw – her history and transformation. Warsaw, according to Ołowska, is a woman. “The Spell of Warsaw” speaks of dreams, of perfect life, referring with a sense of distance to changes and new situations.
