Everything but chicken breast

Feel like trying something different than pierogi, but still 100% Polish? Head for “Piąta ćwiartka” inside Kubicki Arcades of the Royal Castle to try some of the best viscera (i.e. animal parts you would not normally consider eating) out there. The fancy interiors call for equally fancy cuisine; menu includes veal brain, cow tongue, chicken liver and the famous tripe soup, all deliciously prepared to leave you with the task of pondering over the ambiguity of the Polish saying “through the stomach to the heart” (i.e. feed someone well to win them over). Check out the menu in the “Details” link below – your less adventurous companions will be relieved to know the are meat-free dishes available, too (like pancakes with plums)

And use the lovely weather to stroll through the castle gardens (there’s even a maze!)

Where: Piąta ćwiartka (The Fifth Quarter) in Kubicki Arcades, entrance from Bugaj and Grodzka Street as well as through the Castle.

Traditional Polish Pottery – and cheaper than usual, too!

You know a Bolesławiec pot when you see one – the trademark blue&white mix has made them world-famous, but head to their flagship store in Warsaw (one you brace the subway construction site obstructions) to see full color palette. Unique, stylish yet quaint and just plain pretty – we think they make for great Polish souvenir.

Where: Bolesławiec pottery store, ul. Prosta 2/14
