Longest birthday party ever!

When was Chopin born? You won’t find an answer to this question even in the museum devoted to him. His mother claimed it was the first day of March, while church registry states it was February 22nd. Because no one will ever know the truth, Warsaw throws its most famous male resident a week-long birthday party – between February 22nd and March 1st you will have the opportunity to attend a number of free Chopin concerts held daily in various locations around the city. This Saturday, a whole range of Polish musicians will be performing the music of this most famous Polish composer.

At 5PM, head to the former department store „Bracia Jabłkowscy” at Bracka 25 for the birthday party. And in the evening, head to the Central Agronomics Library not far from where Chopin left Warsaw for good in 1830, to hear some of the composer’s most famous concertos.

Savages at the theatre

It’s been a good year for Savages. Their debut album ‘Silence Yourself’ made it to UK’s top-20, they toured with British Sea Power and Queens of the Stone Age and were nominated for the Mercury Prize. This Saturday you can check for yourself if they deserved it all:) Alterklub is an irregular music night run by organizers of Open’er Festival, the biggest and most famous summer festival in Poland. Savages, this female post-punk group, have already performed there last year and now their back to headline the club’s night. Or, to be precise, the theater’s night as this post-industrial stage will be an original setting for the gig.

#PARTY

No house, no elektro, no rap!

It happens. Sometimes it happens you just can’t stand house music anymore. Still, it’s a Saturday night and you’re in the best place to party in Poland so no way you’re staying at home, right? We’ve got something that will immediately make you forget the idea of ‘just going for a beer’. Zabawa Taneczna! It stands for a ‘dancing party’ and is a very old-school way of saying a club night in Polish. The djs selecting tracks will be Double Trouble – a Warsaw/Berlin-based duo that have played at parties from stuffy basements to huge open-air festivals. Zabawa Taneczna is where they limit themselves to only 1950s, 60s and 70s so expect a lot of rockabilly, classic rock’n’roll, twist and more!
