#MUSEUM

Delve into history through art!

Recently reorganised, the National Museum of Warsaw exhibits an array of works of art dating from the times of ancient Egypt up until the 21st century. You can also admire Polish classics like Matejko (don’t miss his immense ‘Battle of Grunwald’!), Malczewski or Wyspiański. But what truly fascinates us there is the section of European medieval religious art (one of the biggest in the world). This part of the exposition was recently re-opened after massive renovation. We still remember how impressive it was for us when we were kids-2.5 meters tall wooden crucifixes, with all the details of the suffering Christ presented right in our faces… long corridors with silent, mysterious yet beautiful Madonnas and dozens of angels starring at us all the way.. both amazing and frightening. Whoever said museums are boring?

Have lunch in the Palace!

And here’s one: it’s called Café Kulturalna and is located to the left of the main entrance from ul.Marszałkowska, right by the DRAMATYCZNY theater. Head there between 12 and 4pm to make it in time for lunch! 21 PLN gets you a meat or vegetarian soup and second course. And if you don’t make it in time, be sure to try their Burmese soup and hummus!
