Poetry in concert

Just a quick look outside the window makes you realize that “There isn’t going to be a summer like this anymore…” This is how one of the most popular songs by a Polish band Åšwietliki begins. The band is led by Marcin Åšwietlicki, one of the most important Polish poets born in the 1960s, and Filandia, the song-in-question is a great moving and humorous sum up of anything good that comes to an end. Like the summertime. Like a good party. Like a holiday romance. Need some poetry? You’ll find it in this performance combined with rock muisc.

#MOVIES

The Polish movie of the year

The first successful heart transplantation in Poland was done in 1985, in the dull times of unequipped hospitals, long queues of desperate people waiting to get just a leaf of bread and permanent invigilation by secret police. The man behind it was Zbigniew Religa, a genius and a workaholic who would oppose both the system and some of his collegues but also comment on the religoius beliefs of his patients and relax with a too much of vodka. See the movie that got all the ‘POlish Oscars’ this year, for the best movie, scenario and an actor in the leading role. The movie is screened in Kinoteka with the English subtitles!
