Miracle by the RIver

Miracle by the Vistula is how Polish people refer to a famous 1920 battle when Polish army managed to stop communist Russia advancing west. But if you as a random partygoer about it, they won’t think of dead soldiers and heroism but rather the sunrise over Świętokrzyski bridge in Warsaw. The reason? Cud nad Wisłą (the Miracle by the Vistula) is a name of one of the most successful open air summer venues in the city with parties lasting until dawn and longer. Tonight is their first night of the season, the beats will be taken care of by Flirtini and Club Collab, and if you want to meet the best party crowd in town – this is the place to be tonight!

Tracing music with Buraka Som Sistema

Kuduro – this is how Buraka Som Sistema from Portugal call their music. ‘Tracing music with Buraka Som Sistema’ is the title of a film screened tonight at 7:30 pm in Kinoteka as part of Planete+ Doc Film Festival that will try and answer the question: what kuduro is? If you don’t manage to get tickets for the film or prefer to answer the question yourself, head for Café Kulturalna! This is where you will meet Branko (of BSS), Yadi and local Global Diggers on an afterparty mixing hip-hop, techno, house and folk. The entrance is free of charge but people with cinema tickets get priority.

Students celebrate!

They celebrate and party all the time, don’t they?:) But this time, it’s understood and part of tradition: it’s time to start the annual Juwenalia! It’s a series of concerts and presenting an array of Polish pop, rock and alternative scene. Today’s gig will have at least two acts really worth getting interested in:
Łąki Łan (pronounced as ‘won-kee-one’), formed in 2002 but already a legendary Polish band known for their colourful, energetic shows, always performing in funny imaginative concert outfits. Hard funk band as they describe their style is insane, intense and perfect for a wild party. If you want to enjoy the night with some crazy crowd following the crazy insect-costume-wearing rockers – you can’t miss it.
Another artist is Dawid Podsiadło – Polish X-Factor winner who’s music conquered commercial radio stations, hearts of alternative lovers and who’s won nearly all possible awards in Poland this year:)
