#EXHIBITION

Graffiti on trains

Speeding through the industrial wasteland or petrified on forgotten sidings wagons are fascinating graffiti artists, photographers, urban explorers and enthusiasts of the railways.
Raw beauty of the freights is the inspiration for a separate stream of industrial aesthetics and rail freight admirers form a specific niche culture.
Its roots are in North America and the role which railway played in the integration of the continent in the nineteenth century. From the turn of the century are dated the first signs and symbols left on the cars by vagrants and illegal travelers using them to migrate. With the explosion of graffiti culture wagons became a space for a completely new language of painting and new traditions, which quickly spread also on the old continent.

At the exhibition “51” we look not only on illegal signs draped over the cars, but also on technical symbols associated with the railway infrastructure. The exhibition will present extensive documentation of graffiti, artistic forms and characters appearing on the wagons. This theme is particularly important to us because it is a unique opportunity to show graffiti movement on a very broad cultural background.

#MUSIC

Polish next big thing(s)?

This Friday at Hydrozagadka it’s time to present emerging Polish rock bands. Who knows, maybe one of them will be the next big thing here in Poland? ODC, The Mugshots, Woodland and Fat Kid’s Revenge play music ranging from melodic punk to rock to ska. Some of them have already released their first album, some are as fresh as a daisy.
Hydrozagadka, the venue, is one of a few clubs in the trendy ’11 listopada’ yard. Named after a nearby street, it’s one of the most vibrant places in Praga, especially on the weekends. If you don’t like the atmosphere at one of the clubs you just go next door to another:)
